Ace Hotel Palm Springs Wedding | Ryan & Susie

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. If that is true, then this post is worth 173,000 words. Words about tradition, family, bygone days, friendship, celebration and love. Every detail of Ryan and Susie’s (hereafter known as Rusie) wedding was intentional and crafted with an artist’s passion. They chose to get married over Thanksgiving weekend, just as her parents and grandparents had done decades earlier. They invited everyone to spend the entire weekend with them at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, from Thanksgiving dinner to a pool party on Sunday. Susie had her mother’s and Ryan’s mom’s dress remodeled for her to wear for the ceremony and reception, but she didn’t just have them tailored, she had them dyed brilliant hues of gold and green to really make them her own. They hung garlands of fabric, rope and beads they made using fabric scraps they had asked their guests to bring to the bridal shower. Each guest found their table by matching a swatch of fabric that coordinated with the table runners tied to a vintage salt and pepper shaker set picked out especially for them. Ryan ordered filament bulbs to replace the normal bulbs in the reception space, and they lined the tables with thrifted vases, bottles, lamps and tchotchkes from their home mostly, but some newer finds as well. Each guest received a welcome bag with homemade chocolates, beer coozies, and a friendship bracelet. Not to be outdone, Ryan’s jacket was custom made in navy velvet and gold satin, while his groomsmen received vintage cufflinks and ties to match their partners dresses. Fresh flowers filled the tables, but the ladies carried bouquet scepters with tie roses, and Susie had a beautiful jewelry bouquet with a piece of jewelry from every person in her family. Ryan’s gift to the guys (pistols) resulted in hilarity, and Susie passed out gold clutches to each of her attendants. At the end of the ceremony Rusie rode away on the back of a classic emerald cadillac.. a gift from her dad. Ryan’s dad lent his tremendous musical talent to the band of friends that played for the couple’s first dance. Throughout the weekend Rusie was on cloud 9. They were so excited to be surrounded by their loved ones; especially one another. Rusie, we wish you a lifetime of love and laughter.
