Do you ever have one of those days when you get an email from a new client and they sound like a long lost friend? Then you have a Skype meeting with them and it feels like you’ve known them forever, and when you finally meet them in person you have the most amazing time? We love when that happens! It makes our job so much fun and insanely rewarding. Susie and Drew are straight up adorable together. They hold each other with tenderness and passion and fire all at once. There’s no distraction for them when they are connecting with each other. He makes her laugh.. and then he makes her laugh harder. When they walk together he wraps his arm around her holding her close, not just holding her hand. It’s beautiful.
We can’t tell this love story any better than Susie herself.
“Drew and I met on January 6th, 2013. That’s right – it’s a little over 2 months ago. He had just moved into the neighborhood and I knew one of his new roommates. The roommate invited me over to play a card game, and that was the first time I met Drew. I remember him walking through the door and thinking to myself, “Hot dang, who is THIS guy?” I didn’t think anything would happen because I felt a little out of my league, but I made it a point to visit his apartment on a regular basis and I came to find out that he felt the same about me. BAM. Two weeks later, we’re dating. I lucked out, I know. A week after Valentine’s Day, we said we loved each other. I couldn’t stop giggling afterwards because of all of the freaking butterflies romping around in my stomach. About a month after that, we’re driving in his car and he tells me that he’s decided he wants to marry me. The craziest part was I knew that I wanted to marry him, too. I don’t know how, but I knew. He’d become my best friend and the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the future is an adventure waiting to happen, and I wanted him to be part of mine. It won’t be perfect, but it will be worth it. And we’re going to have so much fun, it should be illegal.”
Between now and their August Wedding in San Diego, Susie will be spending three months in Italy as an English tutor. Leaving Drew to keep tabs on wedding planning here. We are ecstatic to be photographing the wedding of these beautiful people. And now.. on to their San Clemente session. Since they both grew up near the ocean (Susie in Massachusetts and Drew in California, both now living in Utah) they picked a place on the water. (Check out the cool boat that was just laying on the beach unattended!) While we were walking Susie pointed out the palm trees, “I keep thinking they are fake – plastic – we don’t have them back home and they are everywhere here! And there’s all different kinds!” So we had to make sure we snapped a few of the palms for a hopefully-one-day-californian. Thank you both for the awesome session! You rocked it!
