Ramen, green tea Kit Kat bars, a japanese convenience store and a gorgeous, awesome couple? Oh ya. Where else could this all happen but in Little Tokyo. It’s where they would come for dates, it’s where they still come for dates. Austin and Amie met while bartending together. In true Angelino fashion this was their side job. Austin is a super talented musician and Amie is in casting, but she also chases paparazzi away from Marlon Wayans. She’s bad-ass like that. Transplants from Chicago and Massachusetts they spend Christmas in New York every year. Last year, the night before they left, Austin had a little (okay, okay a BIG surprise) for Amie. He told her they were going to grab a drink with his boss at the Soho House, where they were told she was still in a meeting. They went out to the patio to wait. A little while later two glasses of champagne were brought out with a message saying his boss wasn’t going to make it. Amie was confused, but still had no idea what was coming. Austin handed her a card to open. Inside was a business card for a custom jewelry designer. He said, “I realized that we have never talked about what kind of ring you would want, so I thought we could design one together.” He then knelt down and asked her to marry him, with a beautiful band to hold her over. As they walked back through the bar Amie was surprised again with 3 of their closest friends who shared celebratory drinks. On the way home, they “stopped in” to the bar where they met– Amie was too excited for sleeping. But once again, Austin was still two steps ahead. They walked in to a surprise party with all the rest of their friends! They made their way home for a couple hours of sleep before heading to the airport. When Austin woke up he looked over to see Amie wide awake.
Austin: Have you been awake all night?
Amie: Yes! I was too excited to sleep.
Austin: Why didn’t you go in the other room and watch tv or read?
Amie: I didn’t want to leave you.
The story is awesome. But this couple is perfect. We cannot wait for their wedding in October, and we could not feel more honored to be the photographers they chose.
