Mike and I always feel incredibly blessed when we book a new client. The trust and confidence they place in us to photograph the precious memories of a once-in-a-lifetime moment are feelings we hold dear, almost reverentially. When one of your oldest friends, the one you had a joint sweet sixteen party with, asks you to be her wedding photographers the warm fuzzies are multiplied to the nth power. Adam is from the Pacific Northwest. Kimmy is from Southern California. They met in the middle when they shared a cubicle in a 52 story skyscraper in San Francisco. Kimmy was discovering that she did not want to go further into law as a paralegal, and was considering other options. They went on their first date after they were no longer working together. The first date was at a Restaurant called Chow, where they sat at “The Harry Potter table under the stairs.” Every year on their anniversary they go back to eat at the Harry Potter table. They both changed their career directions and both ended up teaching. Adam went to Central America to learn Spanish by immersion and now teaches college ESL students to read and write. They’ve traveled the world together and moved twice. Once to Seattle, and back again to the city they love. Kimmy went on to get her Master’s in teaching, and is now teaching kindergarteners how to read and write at an international elementary school. So, basically, San Francisco students are covered at the beginning level and in higher education. Adam wanted to surprise her with a proposal, so he saved the ring for a sunrise hike in Sutro Park on her birthday. She was completely caught off guard. At her bridal shower earlier in the day I learned that what I always knew to be true about Kimmy was also true about Adam — world-traveler, accident-prone (she fell off a surfboard onto a sea urchin, and fell into a hole near a shipwreck), and family-centered. Spending the afternoon photographing their love was incredible. Kimmy & Adam we cannot thank you enough for your friendship, or for the trust you’ve given us to preserve your memories.
