Vibrant, passionate, charismatic, interesting, full of love… words to describe Puerto Rico, but they also describe Chris and Anna to a T. Two people who could not be more perfect for each other if they tried to be; yet the way they fit together is as natural as a fish breathing water. When they are together everyone around them is sucked in to their infectious good moods, laughter and good times! The coolest thing about destination weddings is there is an element of sharing a special place. Couples have found a place in the world they love and want their loved ones to experience that place with them. Last year they were laying on a beach in Rincon, Puerto Rico talking to a guy who had just bought the house behind them and Anna says, “I want to get married right here.” And the guy says I just started renting it out for weddings! Between master’s degrees, and running their own paddle board rental company and jobs, they planned a wedding 3300 miles away. A beautiful Puerto Rican.. but not too Puerto Rican wedding. Close friends and family came from all over the country to spend a week with the couple. Some they hadn’t seen in years and the couple shared one of their favorite places with the ones they love. I think the flowers traveled the furthest though. Anna ordered her bouquet, boutonnieres and centerpiece succulents from Bohemian Bouquets in Oregon! They arrived no worse for wear and were the perfect accent to her gown her mom made for her. Personalized details were charmingly evident from their invites to the guest’s welcome bags.
Every beautiful bride deserves a dapper groom, and Chris in lime green, white and charcoal was incredibly well-suited. The art-deco pink and green house had been completely taken over by the wedding party and the side of the house was the spot of one of the most touching first looks we have had the privilege of capturing. The sun was setting as they read their very personalized vows to each other (like Anna promising she would go back to Cairo with him if he made sure she had her own personal driver). An intimate dinner on the patio was followed by a round of toasts from any who wanted to take the floor. Dancing and dessert and rum cocktails lasted well into the night.
Chris and Anna, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your wedding; for sharing your hearts and your family with us, and for your friendship. We are honored to have been a part and honored to call you friends. We wish you a lifetime of love and laughter. Cheers!
