Jerica’s (Jeff+Erica) wedding was in every sense of the word an extravaganza [an elaborate and spectacular entertainment or production]. From the movie ticket escort cards, to the multitude of signs directing guests to various activities, to the food (oysters and crawfish! cured meats and delicious mini cupcakes), to the multicolored mix and match bridal party. Everywhere you looked was something to entertain or to remind you of their love of the performing arts. They had a Lego cake topper with Hamlet and Minnie Mouse characters! This was also the first time we have ever seen a bride and groom cut the cake with their fingers when they could not locate the cake knife! Both are performers living in LA, but they grew up and met in the Bay Area. Fellow Hollywood actors/artists/production designers were there to help set the stage, string lights, spray paint lanterns, and even fold the napkins. A friend hand painted a map with important Jerica locations like the Lodge, where they met (and where Jeff proposed), there were even little arrows for the direction of their mini-moon and honeymoon. Another friend illustrated the Ketubah. In the center of all this extravaganza of details were Jeff and Erica, a beacon of true love, of laughter, and of gentle warmth and kindness. After the toasts the Ukelady got up to sing a song she had written using their nicknames: Foo Face & Boo Boo Chunk. I for one still get the song stuck in my head whenever I think about it. True to tradition (anyone else singing Fiddler now?) they made sure to include the hora. Erica’s face as her chair is about to be lifted is priceless!
Jerica, we cannot fully express the feelings of love and thankfulness we have to have been a part of your celebrations. I found a quote today that reminded me of you and in the tradition of our first meeting I will end with it, “I know not all that may be coming, but be it what it will, I’ll go to it laughing.”
